Versus the Week of May 18

By May 19, 2020Versus The Week

Hey guys, Maevri here!

I’m back again this week with some news about a couple of our titles, some incredible community content, and information about which games are currently on sale. Check it out –

Wintermoor Wins Hearts

Wintermoor Tactics Club continues to receive praise among players

One of the things I knew I wanted as soon as we signed this title was custom art. Whether it’s commissioned pieces like these, or community produced illustrations, this game is just perfect for creative expression. And it doesn’t even have to be the main characters!

This phenomenal piece by Erica Williams features the Deepwood Archer, one of the enemies you face in the game.

Here’s another wonderful illustration we commissioned from ABritoArt. She did a fantastic job capturing Alicia’s excitement and passion for Tactics Club, one of the only places she feels she can really be herself.

We’ve also had some talented content creators check out the game since launch. Whether it’s been livestreams, YouTube videos, or magnificent horse drawings, we see and appreciate all of you. Thank you for spending time with this game and getting to know all the characters at Wintermoor Academy.

If you have any content you’d like to share with us or the Developers, please tweet at us or use #Wintermoor so we can make sure to show you some love!

Have a look at Day9 play through the first chapter of the game here:

Last week also saw the very first update to the game, which fixed a few issues players reported to our Discord channel. Lead Developer Ben Walker says that you can expect frequent updates as needed, and you can communicate directly with the team about any questions or issues you have through the Wintermoor channel in the Versus Evil Discord server.

Patch Notes:

  • Fixed a crash bug that would occur when you visited certain locations 40+ times
  • Saving / autosaving the game is much more performant and doesn’t leak memory
  • Added quicksave and quickload buttons (F5 and F9)
  • Fixed the softlock when losing a battle in chapter 1 under certain conditions

Finally, I’m really happy to say that over the weekend we got enough ratings on Steam to have a Very Positive overall review score! Thank you so much to everyone who has been playing this game and spreading the love. It means the world to us and the awesome development team at EVC Games.

Yaga Bad Fate Update Out Now

Huge changes for this beloved RPG

Yaga didn’t actually go anywhere, but it’s back now and better than ever! In the months since launch, developer Breadcrumbs Interactive have been hard at work on an update that implements many new features. They listened to player feedback and have improved on many of the mechanics that the community discussed during launch. This includes the ability to run (no more rolling everywhere, unless you want to), an overhauled Bad Luck system, and major improvements to the Crafting system. We actually made another post about this update, which you can read here.

Yaga is currently on sale during the Epic Games MEGA Sale, so there’s never been a better time to check out this title that GameCritics said “felt like reading my favorite folktale but better, because this time I got to star in it.”

Epic Games MEGA Sale

Great games without breaking the bank

Everybody loves a sale! We just finished wrapping up our Steam Publisher Sale today, but if you somehow missed out on those amazing deals, do not fret. Now until June 11, we’ve got some of our favorite games on sale for you during the Epic Games Store MEGA Sale. And with all new updates and DLC, this is probably the best time for you to check out any of these titles you may have missed at launch. If you do end up grabbing any of these, let me know what you think!

And Now For Something Completely Different

This is the section I reserve to talk about non work stuff, and currently that involves discussing the random activities I’m doing to stay occupied and sane during this pandemic. I know a lot of folks are picking up new hobbies, or rediscovering old ones they might have drifted away from. For me, it’s been a lot of yardwork, baking, and virtual pubs. We’ll get to more of these things in the following weeks, but today I wanted to share my garden progress!

These flowerbeds were severely neglected, and it has taken months of work to get them even this far! I’m especially excited for the back garden, where I have my herbs and pollinator friendly plants. I’ve planted yarrow, chamomile, lavender, dill, parsley, coneflower, oregano, chives, and garlic. I can’t wait for them to really get established so I can attract all the butterflies and bees! Take a look and let me know how I’ve done so far.

Have you picked up any new hobbies during the quarantine? If so, I’d love to hear all about them (and see photos!).

That’s all I’ve got for y’all this week! I hope you enjoyed it, and would love to hear from you. You can stay in touch with me and the team by joining our Discord and following us on Twitter and Facebook.

Until next week!

-Maevri
