Let’s get familiar with the various potions you can craft in Eville! In this guide we will cover: what each potion does, how to craft it, how to use it, & some strategy tips on using them effectively & efficiently. You’ll be a potion master in no time! 🎓
To begin we’ll start with some potion crafting basics! Certain quests in Eville will require you to gather ingredients & craft them, but you can also craft them outside of needing them for quests. Each potion needs 2-3 ingredients to be able to be crafted. You can find these ingredients as items that randomly spawn in specific areas, as well as purchasing them from various vendors. Note that certain roles may have or not have access to certain vendors. Once you have the needed ingredients, you can head over to the Herb Witch, who is on the far East side of the village. Speak with her & select which potion you would like to create. Once you have the potion crafted – head to your home or another player’s home and use the potion on your/their cauldron. 🤫
You must be careful using potions because you can get caught & you may even put the potion in the wrong home’s cauldron if you aren’t careful. Do note the limited space you have in your inventory as well. It’s usually best to grab the ingredients you need & head straight to the Herb Witch to consolidate your inventory spaces.
There are also some roles in the game that affect potions. Beware that you cannot poison a Medic. If you use a Poison Potion on a Medic’s cauldron it will have no effect & be used up. To review a role’s Ability & Effects, you can press G (for mouse & keyboard) to pull up the game guide.

Poison: ☠️
Ingredients & Locations:
–Red Gemstone
–Gray Death
–Red Mushroom
What does it do?:
–By using a Poison potion on another players’ cauldron their health bar begins to reduce at a specific rate. Poison Potions can also be stacked for a faster effect.
Strategy Tips:
–You can stack poisons, whether it is multiple from one use or more than one user.
–Poisoning someone is a great way to distract them by making them go gather ingredients for the antidote, which is also a great way to get 1 on 1 with someone & take them out during the day!
Antidote: ❇️
Ingredients & Locations:
–Mage Blossom
–Mushroom
What does it do?:
–The antidote cures you of poison! It does not however, recover the health you may have lost while being poisoned. You can purchase food from a vendor to eat or have a trust Medic ally help you out.
Strategy Tips:
— It’s a good idea to have an antidote on hand for yourself or for a trusted ally in the event you get poisoned. You’ll want to use it as soon as possible as your health will tick down while poisoned. You usually have enough time to grab the ingredients & make one once you are poisoned, but sometimes it’s better to play it safe & not worry about missing a meeting/vote or other events/quests.
Protection: 😇

What does it do?:
–It protects you from death by other players for one night, but you are not protected from poison.
Strategy Tips:
–If you think yourself or someone else on your team are being targeted it’s a good idea to drop a Protection Potion in that player’s cauldron to protect them overnight. The Protection Potion does not make you 100% unkillable though. Status Effects like Poison are not affected by the Protection Potion.
SPECIAL – Sleeping Powder: 💤
Purchase Location:
–Magical Goods Vendor in the village square
What does it do?:
–Sleeping powder is purchased from the town square vendor & added to your inventory. To use it – place it in a player’s cauldron the same as a potion. The next night the player will not wake up overnight regardless of their role or any special abilities.
Strategy Tips:
–If you are a villager & suspect a player of being a conspirator it may be wise to make sure that player is not out & about at night to cause chaos… On the flip side – if you want to make a villager an easy target as a conspirator, try using the Sleeping Powder on them! 😴
